The Racing Queensland Greyhound Sweepstakes is an event for both racing and retired greyhounds, which is judged during the luncheon break commencing at approximately 12.00pm. The aim is to promote the Racing Greyhound from puppy, preparation for racing, racing and retirement. Also, the versatility, suitability and adaptability of greyhounds for retirement into a forever home, outside of the Racing Industry.
Displays the greyhound as the majestic, gentle animal that it is.
Educates the public by showcasing the greyhound’s beautiful nature, elegance and abilities as confirmation of agility and event capability.
Demonstrates that there is a greyhound to suit any lifestyle and home environment.
Promote the Greyhound Adoption Program QLD, whose mission is to find suitable, loving, long term homes for all greyhounds. Their mission is to stimulate the public’s desire to own a greyhound as a family pet and to prepare and assess the greyhound’s suitability as a loving and loyal family pet and to give ongoing, long term support to the greyhound and its new owners.
Dogs entered into this event are pups bred for the purpose of racing, current race dogs, and retired veterans of the sport. Exhibitors are greyhound trainers and owners. No show greyhounds or dual registered are accepted for inclusion in these Sweepstakes.
The Canine Competition will be staged at the RNA Showgrounds Animal Boulevard, in Buildings 10 and 11.
