Albion Park Preview 10 August 2017

The Road to Nationals begins this Thursday night at Albion Park for Queensland greyhounds. We have looked at the two Distance heats and three Sprint heats.

Distance Heat 1

Outside Pass (8) has been racing in excellent form, having won her past four starts. She finished well over 600m last start suggesting she can handle the distance rise here.

Cyndie’s Magic (4) finished off strongly over the unsuitable 520m last start to finish second. She is a proven 710m performer who will take stopping.

Say Good Day (1) comes off a good win at Ipswich over 630m. She found the line well but this is harder.

Distance Heat 2

Big Easy Red (2) is last year’s Queensland Distance final winner. He has won his past three starts and could prove hard to run down.

Jalapeno (6) finished second to Big Easy Red last start and has always looked to have potential as a stayer.

Champagne Sally (8) hasn’t had a great deal of luck in her past two starts.  A repeat of her win here three starts back will see her go close.

Sprint Heat 1

Thirty Talks (1) didn’t have a great deal of luck when resuming after a long injury-enforced break. He is ideally drawn in box 1 and if he is at his best then he will be hard to beat.

Slick (4) has been racing in solid form. He won well at Rockhampton three starts back and should be prominent early.

Jury (2) put in a good effort when resuming after a break. He will be fitter and has run well over this course and distance in the past.

Sprint Heat 2

Opal Nera (2) returns to Brisbane following a successful campaign, which saw him win two of three starts. Being a quick beginner, box 2 is a big advantage.

Bubble Guppy (6) hasn’t had a great deal of luck in his past two starts. Prior to that, he was racing in great form including a second in the Winter Cup final.

Aza Zeus (1) has been down on form recently but gets his chance from box 1.

Sprint Heat 3

Split Image (7) has been racing in terrific form having won her past four starts. She ran down Zabdon Ferrari in the Rockhampton Cup final.

Zabdon Ferrari (8) was forced wide last start and finished at the tail of the field. He is capable of crossing from the outside box and leading all the way.

Rather Dapper (3) did not have much luck last start. The Queensland Derby winner had been in good form prior to that, finishing just behind Split Image.
