Long Legs Lou Pays It Forward

Rookie Queensland pacer Long Legs Lou has played her part.

And for a great cause.

The two-year-old pacing filly was selected by owner/breeders Kevin and Kay Seymour to race in her maiden season for media personality Erin Molan with any prizemoney being donated to the Bowel Cancer Australia organisation.

The sports reporter and co-host of the multiple award winning Channel 9 program ‘The Footy Show’ is an ambassador for Bowel Cancer Australia.

Her sister Sarah was diagnosed with the disease but is doing well following treatment.

Bowel cancer is the second biggest cancer killer of Australian men and women.  It claims more lives than breast or prostate cancer.

Molan named Long Legs Lou in honour of her sister.

Throughout the racing season, the Bettors Delight filly raced on nine occasions for 1 victory and two minor placings.

Her earnings reached $5202 but given the fact the filly was eligible for a QBRED bonus following her maiden victory, the grand total came to $12,213.10.

All monies have been donated to Bowel Cancer Australia without any deductions.

Long Legs Lou was trained throughout the season at no cost by leading horseman Grant Dixon.

“The proceeds of Long Legs Lou will help save lives and improve the health and wellbeing of people living with bowel cancer. We’re very thankful for the support.” Bowel Cancer Australia Chief Executive Officer Julien Wiggins said.

Bowel Cancer Australia is the leading community-funded charity dedicated to prevention, early diagnosis, research, quality treatment and care for everyone affected by bowel cancer.

Bowel Cancer Australia has a vision to reduce incidence, death and suffering associated with bowel cancer through advocacy, awareness, education, patient support and research.

They are 100% community funded, relying solely on donations and bequests to continue their life saving work.
