RACE TWO

STUDLEIGH WILL (2) lands his best gate for some time and with early speed can look to fire the 1t shot. Taken back from gate 4 last start, he was back in the pack and chasing in vain as all the power was up front. Tough in the breeze the start prior over the 2040m, he can capitalise here.

IMPRESSIVE DIAMOND (7) was sent to the breeze from the 2nd line at the middle distance here 2 starts back and had too much to offer in claiming victory. Again, forced to race tough last start from the 2nd line, she fought hard for the silver behind GOES BOOM. She will need plenty of luck here.

BARBOO (3) led them up last start over the sprint and was able to walk the opening half. Turning it into a last stanza scamper, he was forced to share the win in a dead-heat result. He has podium claims again here.

ARBIT MAJOR (10) doesn’t have any favours from the gate, but can work in the run when required. Fighting gamely last start after being sent forward from gate 10, he can be chiming in late.

SELECTIONS: STUDLEIGH WILL (2), IMPRESSIVE DIAMOND (7), BARBOO (3), ARBIT MAJOR (10)
SUGGESTED BET: STUDLEIGH WILL (2) to win

RACE THREE

WILLSINTOWN (1) tried to take them all the way last start from gate 2 over this trip, but a flattened tyre added to the fade-out when trailing them in. Locked away on the pegs from inside the 2nd line here 2 starts back, he comes up with the options from the ace and can look to make the most of it.

RANCHO MAN (2) was stuck looking for position last start and was forced to retreat which effectively ended his chances with the power on late. That followed a similar effort when forced to retreat early to find a spot. With the improved gate, he can settle closer to make a challenge.

PRESLEYBEGOOD (9) resumes from a spell to start her 4YO term and has been to the trials once in preparation. With a 75% top-3 strike-rate here on the triangle, she can be thereabouts 1st up.

WILD ABOUT TOWN (8) rolled the sleeves last start and was forced to race tough in the breeze when fighting for the bronze. Only beaten a half-head here 3 starts back, he can be in the mix once again.

SELECTIONS: WILLSINTOWN (1), RANCHO MAN (2), PRESLEYBEGOOD (9), WILD ABOUT TOWN (8)
SUGGESTED BET: WILLSINTOWN (1) to win

RACE FOUR

MAJOR SCORE (7)
will be fitter following 2 runs back from a spell after re-joining the Butler stable. Angled to the pegs from gate 9 last start looking for the short-cuts, he was strong to the line behind MAJOR GENERALJUJON. With the perfect trip for his pattern on offer, he will be coiled and ready to strike.

CONDAFEW (8) is crying out to win a race, despite approaching 12 months without a victory. Claiming 3rd from a wide gate behind the smart WET MY WHISTLE last start at Tamworth, he didn’t have much go his way from gate 6 here 2 starts back. With even luck in transit, this is within reach.

THERESACHANCE (1) took on the lamp lighting duties last start from this gate over the 2040m trip and setting an even tempo was grabbed late. Back to the mile suits and he will give them the target to gun down.

GUPTAS CULLEN (6) has been in the money at 6 of her past 7 starts, the latest when nabbed right on the wire after setting a good clip. Steaming home from the 2nd line to score 2 starts back, she can chime in here.

SELECTIONS: MAJOR SCORE (7), CONDAFEW (8), THERESACHANCE (1), GUPTAS CULLEN (6)
SUGGESTED BET: Exotics 1-6-7-8

RACE FIVE

PATCHWORK JET (9) is in nice touch with a top-3 at his past 4 outings, with a pair of wins recorded in that streak. Finding the 1x1 last start, he had too much to offer in the stretch in claiming a 4m victory. Only 3m away in 3rd the start prior, he faces a sticky gate here, but meets nothing harder than his latest victory.

SCHOOBY (8) has been runner-up at his past 2 in succession, run-down in the closing stages on both occasions. Leading them up over the sprint trip here last start, he fell 2m short when ASHLEE NITRO pounced. In the quinella numbers at 5 of his past 6 appearances, he can feature again in this.

CANNAN (3) pressed forward from gate 4 last start and rolling the sleeves was in for the fight when holding on for the bronze. Forget his run 2 back when striking trouble, he is in the mix from this gate.

ITS YOU NOT ME (1) capitalised from this gate 2 starts back when taking them all the way for a comfortable 6m victory. With the peg-line benefits again, he won’t be too far away.

SELECTIONS: PATCHWORK JET (9), SCHOOBY (8), CANNAN (3), ITS YOU NOT ME (1)
SUGGESTED BET:

RACE SIX

DONNY JONES (4) pressed forward from a 2nd line gate over the sprint trip here last start and sent to the breeze was working hard. Fading under the pressure in the closing stages, it had followed a similarly tough run from gate 7 over the 2138m trip. He has been out of the winners circle for a while, but can cash-in here.

LIVING GRAND (6) found the front in a 2nd division qualifier on Sat night over the 2138m and was fighting to the line when beaten a head. Not suited by gate 12 over the mile 2 starts back, his run had merit behind CHERRYS THE BEST 3 back. The gate hurts, but he can still challenge in this line-up.

MISTER BLACKJACK (7) resumes from a spell at his home track where he has a better than 50% top-3 strike rate in 13 outings. With a cosy run from the gate here 1st up, he can be probing for gaps to chime in late.

EULO FLYER (2) lands a big gate advantage here after facing wide gates in his past 3. Taken back from the five-hole last start, he couldn’t get into the contest. He can be sharper in this.

SELECTIONS: DONNY JONES (4), LIVING GRAND (6), MISTER BLACKJACK (7), EULO FLYER (2)
SUGGESTED BET: DONNY JONES (4) to win

RACE SEVEN

Tempo and mid-race moves look to hold the key to this contest with the main players looking to come from wide off the front or 2nd line. CALL ME TRISH (5) settled back in the pack from a 2nd line gate last start when working home strongly to claim a 4m victory. Luckless the start prior, making an early move might prove to be a winning play.

JUST JOSHIN (6) has placed in 4 of 6 starts since returning from a spell, the latest when rolling the sleeves and doing the tough stuff when only beaten a head over the AP mile. He didn’t have the cleanest passage 2 starts back and stung by a wide gate here, will be needing to work at some stage.

GIRL ON THE GO (4) secured the right trip here 2 starts back and when the passing lane presented, was able to take the prize. Forget her last start where she made an error, she can look to atone here.

JAMES THE JET (1) met a tricky contest for just his 3rd career start here last outing and found them a bit out of reach after starting from gate 9. Back to the good alley, he can get the right trip to fill the exotics.

SELECTIONS: CALL ME TRISH (5), JUST JOSHIN (6), GIRL ON THE GO (4), JAMES THE JET (1)
SUGGESTED BET: CALL ME TRISH (5) to win

RACE EIGHT

IM BATMAN (10) made his Qld debut with an easy victory when sent to the post as fav from this same gate over this trip. Working home strongly in the closing stages, he was too strong in landing the 13th win of his career. Despite the gate, he finds more low hanging fruit and can fill the satchel.

WRITEABOUTCHELSEA (7) found the running line from gate 10 last start when working home in nice style to be 6m from the winner PATCHWORK JET. Not too far off them 2 starts back again from gate 10, she took them all the way at Marburg 3 back. With an easy trip she can be making a late play.

BRIGHTON PRINCE (6) will be further tightened from his latest outing when working home well to be 7m from the winner after not receiving the cleanest run in transit. The gate hurts but he can podium.

ELSIES GIRL (9) faces a task as a maiden against this line-up, but she has been progressing at each outing. Looming up last start and then grabbed near the wire, she has place claims again here.

SELECTIONS: IM BATMAN (10), WRITEABOUTCHELSEA (7), BRIGHTON PRINCE (6), ELSIES GIRL (9)
SUGGESTED BET: IM BATMAN (10) to win
