RACE ONE

CROFT BAY (3)
worked hard in the run 2 starts back over the 2138m and was fighting to the line when 3m behind CHAPTER ONE. Last start he was shuffled to 3 back along the pegs from inside the 2nd line and was able to roll off the pegs at the 300m and was winding up to issue a challenge when grabbing the bronze. He is right up to this.

SAMMYS A KRIDEN (8) pressed forward at Redcliffe 3 starts back when 2nd up from a spell ad did all the work in a strong rate for the 1780m and dug in to hold 3rd. Last start he was again drawn 5 on the triangle when working forward to find the front and kept a solid tempo to score. He will need a slice of luck from the gate but if he can get the lane with momentum he can take the last shot.

SICILIAN SLUMBER (12) has the tough gate to overcome as he goes in search of a hat-trick of victories. Taking the pocket trail from gate 1 last week he finished best along the passing lane to score. The front line speed will help his chances.

MAYWYNS BEST (1) looked to take them all the way from this same gate over the 2138m trip 2 starts back and after an early burn couldn’t see it out. Beaten 9m behind BODHI TREE last start if he can sneak a stanza he can grip on.

SELECTIONS: CROFT BAY (3), SAMMYS A KRIDEN (8) , SICILIAN SLUMBER (12),  MAYWYNS BEST (1)
SUGGESTED BET: Exotics 1-3-8-12

RACE TWO

WRITTEN IN RED (3) was buried away on the pegs last start which is not his best pattern yet he was still hitting the line hard to finish 1.5m from the winner POLISHED ROCKS. 3 starts back he took the silver behind SMOKEY QUARTZ and 2 back was only 6m from the flying VILLAGE WITCH. He should get a nice run in transit here to finish over the top.

THE SPACE INVADER (6) will appreciate this type of race after taking on the FFA ranks in recent starts. Sent for a break after a 10m finish behind MAJESTIC MAJOR he resumed when only 6m from that same runner in a strong mile. Last start he was snagged back from gate 4 when 9m from GLENFERRIE HOOD and with even luck he gets in here nicely.

CLARKEY (8) put in an eye-catcher 2 starts back and was flashing late to finish 4m from the winner. Franking that run last start he came with a well-timed run to score a 2138m win. He will be buried away here but will be swooping hard.

OVERLAP (2) used the passing lane 2 starts back when starting from inside the 2nd line and finished 2m from the winner. Last week he found the front in a 26.5 opening sizzle and just faded late. From the front here and if he can get a breather he can be thereabouts.

SELECTIONS: WRITTEN IN RED (3), THE SPACE INVADER (6), CLARKEY (8), OVERLAP (2)
SUGGESTED BET: WRITTEN IN RED (3) to win

RACE THREE

CONSTANTLYSIDEWAYS (8) will need plenty of luck from this gate if he can issue a solid challenge, but he is one of the class runners in the field. A nice winner over the 2138m 3 starts back he worked hard in the run 2 back when beaten 2m. He was again doing the hard work last start when 3 wide and getting within 5m of the winner KOTARE YORK. If he gets out in time he will be hard to stop.

GASMONKEY (11) rolled forward from gate 6 last week and did the hard yard outside the leader over the 2138m trip when starting a red figure fav. With a 27.8 3rd panel he was still giving and went within a nose of victory. He has been top 2 in his past 6 starts and in this field he looks to be a big danger.

KARLOO MAC (3) was a winner in a 2nd division qualifier here 4 starts back when finishing best. 2 starts back he used the passing lane to claim the silver behind KOTARE YORK and with good early speed can look to find a forward position.

ONLY IN ROME (1) rolled forward from gate 4 here on Tues and worked in the run when holding on to 4th behind LONG ROAD TO FAME. Forget his run 2 starts back and from this gate he should secure a great run and be in the finish.

SELECTIONS: CONSTANTLYSIDEWAYS (8), GASMONKEY (11), KARLOO MAC (3), ONLY IN ROME (1)
SUGGESTED BET:  CONSTANTLYSIDEWAYS (8) to win

RACE FOUR

MAJOR CAM (6)
made the most of slotting back into a mid-week FFA on Tues after finishing within a neck of AZTEC BROMAC 2 runs back and gave trainer Kylie Rasmussen a successful return to race driving when proving too strong. The wide gate makes it a little tricky here but he is all power and with some early sting can be the strongest.

CATCHA LEFTY (2) used the passing lane to take the win here 2 starts back when resuming from a spell over the 1660m. Last start he was 1st to the pegs before allowing GLENFERRIE HOOD to take up the front and then holding 3rd. Over the sprint trip he might look to take them all the way and if he isn’t savaged in front he can go very close.

GLENFERRIE HOOD (7) put a blot on his form-lines when fading off after a tough run in the Qld Cup 2 starts back which came after 5 successive 2nd placed runs. Back to his best when leading throughout last start over the 2138m he will be in the mix.

VILLAGE WITCH (3) is a mare in super form and last start added another win to her name when arriving in time down the centre of the track to score. 3 starts back she finished best off a 2nd line gate and she will be sailing home late again here.

SELECTIONS: MAJOR CAM (6), CATCHA LEFTY (2), GLENFERRIE HOOD (7), VILLAGE WITCH (3)
SUGGESTED BET: MAJOR CAM (6) to win

RACE FIVE

BODHI TREE (1) shoots for the hat-trick as he continues his way through the classes after a superb effort by trainer Peter Greig to get him back. With 10 wins in 16 starts since returning after over 3 years off the scene his latest win was an all the way effort from gate 1 when holding off ALWAYS MY MATE. With early options he can add another win here.

COUNTDOWN (3) was sent forward from gate 6 at Redcliffe last start over the tricky 2040m start and found the front. Setting a good speed in front he was grabbed late when finishing 2nd to DRIVE THE DREAM. Only beaten a neck behind GASMONKEY here over this trip 5 starts back, his AP record probably doesn’t reflect the effort he puts in. He will be right in the fight.

DRIVE THE DREAM (8) rolled forward from gate 4 at Redcliffe 2 starts back and after being 1st to the pegs released the speed and then finished best to score. Working hard early last start she was 6m from CLARKEY and with the cosy trip here will be closing out hard.

THE CHARGING MOA (12) has the tough gate to overcome but saved for a closing shot off a strong tempo she can finish hard. Not suited when taken back off gate 7 last start, she was runner-up at her previous 3 starts. Look for her swooping late.

SELECTIONS: BODHI TREE (1), COUNTDOWN (3), DRIVE THE DREAM (8), THE CHARGING MOA (12)
SUGGESTED BET: Exotics 1-3-8-12

RACE SIX

OUR DIAMOND EDITON (1)
started fav last week and had no favours in the run when 3-wide for basically the entre trip and she battled on well to be within 8m of the winner in claiming the bronze. That followed a 2nd to GOTTA GLOW and from the good alley here has the options and an all the way win would be within reach.

COTTON COLD CANDY (3) settled back in the pack from a 2nd line gate at Redcliffe 2 starts back and then finished with a strong sprint to sail past the field and post a 14m victory. Last week from gate 6 she went back and was hitting the line hard to get within a neck of the winner. She can settle close from this gate and is a big threat.

EVELYN JAY (2) was looking to get a cart into the race last start but was caught and had to go back and was then too far out of the ground to issue a challenge. A winner here 5 starts back when working in the run she can settle closer in this and has claims.

HEY PORSHA (10) started her Qld career with a 2nd in a mares qualifier when turning in a tidy effort behind COME CULLECT after settling a long way back in the pack. She hit the line hard here on Tues when buried away on the pegs and she is closing in on a win. Follow.

SELECTIONS:  OUR DIAMOND EDITON (1), COTTON COLD CANDY (3), EVELYN JAY (2), HEY PORSHA (10)
SUGGESTED BET: OUR DIAMOND EDITON (1) to win

RACE SEVEN

OPONONIS BLISS (3) will appreciate getting back to 3YO only company after last start taking on a Gold Pot series. Sticking on well in a 27.5 closing panel in the heat behind COLT THIRTY ONE, she found the final too strong at this stage of her career. With the gate advantage over her main rivals she can look to record her 3rd win.

ONLY ONE PROMISE (5) will take further benefit from his latest start which was his 2nd run back this campaign. Resuming from gate 7 over the sprint trip he was taken off the gate and sent luck hunting when running a nice 3rd to MEANT TO BE ME. Showing the benefit of that run he was a 9m winner 2nd up when running a nice closing 800m to arrive for the win. He can go close.

MEANT TO BE ME (4) will strip fitter following her return to the track when making the most of the passing lane to sprint sharply to score. Only 2m from the winner STATEMENT PLEASE in the 2YO Triad Consolation at her last run for the season, she can look to fill the trifecta in this.

SELECTIONS: OPONONIS BLISS (3), ONLY ONE PROMISE (5), MEANT TO BE ME (4)
SUGGESTED BET: Flexi trifecta 3 / 5 / 1-4

RACE EIGHT

OUR DAINTY LADY (7)
has the tough gate to negotiate and comes into this a last start 4th in the DJA Final when only 4m from the winner OUR OVERANOVA. She hit the line strongly in the 2nd round heat when only 5m from the winner BLAZING UNDER FIRE. Despite the gate she can continue her strong record on the track to claim another victory.

LAVROS SEGIL (2) had been threatening to run a strong race and did so last start to return a victory following a long run of near misses. Taken back early under the mobile start he was soon sent forward to circle the field and it proved a winning move as he went straight past to record an 8m victory. He can go close.

MR MAYFLY (8) has the benefit of being the sole runner off the 2nd line and can look to get away from the pegs. After narrowly missing the DJA Final he was 7m from RELEVEN DREAM last start when clinching the silver. The mobile start is the query.

UNICO PEGASUS (4) only has 2 wins under mobile conditions, but importantly his most recent win came from the rolling start. That race was at Menangle when he was sent forward from gate 9 to find the front. He can go forward here and give them something to chase.

SELECTIONS: OUR DAINTY LADY (7), LAVROS SEGIL (2), MR MAYFLY (8), UNICO PEGASUS (4)
SUGGESTED BET: OUR DAINTY LADY (7) to win
