Exciting prospect Zoustyle will be reserved for next year’s Sydney autumn after maintaining his unbeaten record at the Sunshine Coast on Saturday.
Zoustyle made his opposition look second rate leading all the way for a commanding 3-1/4 length win over Red Doulton in the QTIS Two-Year-Old Handicap (1000m).
Million did best of the rest finishing third, a further 2-1/2 lengths away.
Zoustyle won a barrier trial by 12 lengths at Eagle Farm before scoring by five lengths on debut at Doomben last month in class record time.
Trainer Tony Gollan has a good opinion of Zoustyle, who is a son of dual Group 1 winner Zoustar.
Zoustar won the Group 1 Coolmore Stud Stakes at Flemington in 2013 for champion Sydney trainer Chris Waller after claiming the Group 1 Golden Rose at Rosehill the same year.
He also won the Group 2 Sires’ Produce Stakes at Doomben and was runner-up in the Group 1 J J Atkins before going on to win at the highest level.
Gollan doesn’t want to rush Zoustyle and will spell him for six weeks before bringing him back into work for a short summer campaign in Brisbane.
“He ran good time again (58.81s) which is good and he was very impressive once again,” Gollan said.
“The spring has probably come a bit too early for him this time so I’ll put him away for a decent spell.
“This is his first preparation so I’ll let him enjoy it and he can come back matured and a lot stronger.
“He’s a good horse in the making and deserves to be looked after.
“He’ll come back after a break and have one or two runs and possibly in a Stakes before we look at the Sydney autumn with him.”
Also headed for the spelling paddock is Ringo’s A Rockstar following his victory in the Benchmark 90 Handicap (1000m).
Ringo’s A Rockstar landed his seventh win from 29 starts for veteran trainer Norm “Whopper” Stephens when he downed Tarzan by a short half head.
Ringo’s A Rockstar has now won four of his seven starts at the Sunshine Coast.
Stephen’s son, Wayne, said Ringo’s A Rockstar dislikes Doomben but will come back to chase the summer races in Brisbane and the Gold Coast.
