Work has been completed at the Townsville Greyhound Racing Club where a new lure and rail system has been installed, a major improvement for the club.

Racing Queensland General Manager of Racing Simon Stout said the work was carried out with minimal disruption to participants.

"The new cable driven lure system will improve reliability and functionality. It replaces the Bramich lure system which was essentially kept operational thanks to the hard work of the many club members and volunteers."

Townsville Greyhound Racing Club president Gary Heath said participants and officials alike were pleased to see the new lure system and rail and were excited about the first race using the new track infrastructure on the 19th of June.

“The new system will allow the club and volunteers to spend much more time on club projects that will help improve the quality of racing for our participants and racing fans.”

The project has been made possible as part of Racing Queensland’s Infrastructure Plan, which has committed $6 million for Country and Regional racing funded by the Racing Infrastructure Fund.

Infrastructure upgrades continue to be rolled out across the state with renovations to the Rockhampton Greyhound Racing Club track and tower to be carried out in the coming months.
