Promising filly Toujours L'amour can prove her versatility and continue trainer Barry Baldwin’s recent good luck when she runs at Ipswich on Wednesday.

Toujours L'amour broke through for her maiden win on a very heavy track at Ipswich three weeks ago and will be striving for successive wins in the Carlton Mid QTIS Three-Year-Old Handicap (1000m).

Ipswich is rated a soft 5 following rain on Tuesday but Baldwin is hopeful of a track upgrade if fine weather prevails.

Toujours L'amour, a daughter of Love Conquerors All, is raced in a big syndicate of 16 which includes long time Baldwin client David Laing, a former Queensland Turf Club secretary.

Laing has raced horses with Baldwin for more than 25 years with his greatest thrill coming from La Montagna’s win in the Group 1 Stradbroke Handicap at Eagle Farm in 2006.

Baldwin broke a run of outs when Glendara claimed the Lister Member’s Cup at Doomben on March 3 then trained a double when Toujours L'amour and Oh Boy were successful at Ipswich on March 7.

Baldwin originally hailed from Roma before moving to Toowoomba early in his career and has won multiple Brisbane premierships as well as titles in Macau before returning to Brisbane.

He was one of the biggest trainers at Eagle Farm at the height of his career before culling his team in recent times to around 14 in work.

"I have scaled things back a bit in recent years but it is always great to win races," Baldwin said.

“Tojours L’amour won very well on a heavy track last start and we were always confident she’d race well as she’s half-sister to Oh Boy who loves the mud.

“This is a harder race and it’s hard for any horse to win two in a row but she’s going well and will run a good race again.

“The track was rated good at acceptances but it’s back in the soft range after a bit of rain on Tuesday.

“I think she’s a better horse on top of the ground and hopefully the track can improve.

“Before she won on the heavy track she had done a lot of work and was very fit.”

Baldwin will again have two Ipswich runners with Beerinawineglass lining up in the Benchmark 62 Handicap (2150m).

Both runners will be ridden by Michael Cahill who has a great record riding for Baldwin.
