Ef Troop draws well in Golden Slipper

The records could continue to tumble for Spirit of Boom this weekend, after the flying Ef Troop (pictured) drew barrier 2 in The Golden Slipper.

It gives Ef Troop, to be ridden by the in-form Jason Collett, a good chance against favourites Sunlight, who has barrier 5 and Written By who drew the 4.

A Group One win in his first season would cap off a brilliant week for the dominant sire, who quinellaed the Jewel with Boomsara and Plumara, and smashed all records at the Magic Millions March Sale.

A morning with Moody

Over 160 people turned out for a Morning with Moody at the Magic Millions Gold Coast Sales Complex yesterday.

Hall of Fame trainer, Peter Moody shared his stories and gave some helpful tips on what to look for in a yearling.

There were plenty of laughs as Moody spoke candidly about his successes and provided an insight into racing for many people new to the industry.

He was joined by a panel of prominent trainers including Kelly Schweida, Stuart Kendrick and Tony Gollan, along with successful owner Maurie Hayes, who has shares in the Gollan trained Ef Troop.

Eureka Stud manager Scott McAlpine and Magic Millions Managing Director Barry Bowditch spoke about the time consuming process of getting a yearling to the sales, and how the auction works.

Participants found the morning to be very informative and enjoyable and we hope to grow on the event in future years.

Thanks to Racing Connections, Racing Queensland and Magic Millions for working with the TBQA to make the day such a success.
