RACE ONE

CHERRYS THE BEST (1)
has faced the starter on 4 occasions now and been placed the past 3 with each of those from gates 5, 6 and 7. Her past 2 has seen her work hard in the run and with the benefit of the improved gate she looks to get her breakthrough moment.

FALLIN FOR GOOD (2) is a Mr Feelgood colt on debut for Jamie Donovan out of the Group 1winning race mare Don’t Fall For Me. Not asked for much in his trial he did it all in order and from the gate can dart behind and be issuing the closing shot.

CAPITALIZE (6) tried to take them all the way last start from the ace gate and was grabbed near the line by SMART AS CAMM BE. Showing his share of ability in 2 starts he can use his experience here.

SELECTIONS: CHERRYS THE BEST (1), FALLIN FOR GOOD (2), CAPITALIZE (6)
SUGGESTED BET: CHERRYS THE BEST (1) to win

RACE TWO

SPRINGBANK EDEN (10) has the 20m to overcome yet should find this within reach after winning an open trot last start. Working to the breeze over this same trip he was too strong in scoring a 2.5m victory. Only beaten a head 3 starts back from the mobile, he looks to have the class to take this.

SPIRIT WALKER (5) has been in the money at her past 3 in succession, the latest when 3rd after stepping cleanly and finding the front over the 2138m trip and grabbed late by LAVROS TEXAS who had the cold sit on her. Brilliant from the tapes she can get in the right position early and will fight.

SPUD (7) will take benefit from his return from a break last week when working to the breeze from a 20m mark before his condition gave out. His run in the DJA Final 2 starts back was strong and he is in the mix.

NEEDLE (8) was looking to make it 6 wins in succession since arriving in Australia last week. Settling with running line cover from the 20m she couldn’t quite reel in the winner when beaten a neck. Goes close again.

SELECTIONS: SPRINGBANK EDEN (10), SPIRIT WALKER (5), SPUD (7), NEEDLE (8)
SUGGESTED BET: Exotics 5-7-8-10

RACE THREE

MY MASTERCRAFTSMAN (8) had been building to something since returning from a spell and after 3 successive placed runs was rewarded with a tidy win at Redcliffe over the 1780m trip when running home strongly. As the lone 2nd line runner he has available options and can take the last shot.

CHATTANOOGACHOOCHOO (1) was taken back from gate 5 last start and found position 3 back on the markers and held is ground to be 9m from the winner CHERISH THE MOMENT. He has the speed to hold the front here and with limited outside pressure can look to break a long winless streak.

REDS JET STAR (7) has the tough gate to negotiate but her form is perhaps a shade stronger than anything else in this race. Last start found the line strongly behind ZARAS DELIGHT. With even luck she will be steaming home hard.

LONG TERM FELLA (3) was luckless here on Sat night when looking to take a run that closed and then angled the other way lost his momentum. Racing without a great deal of luck since returning from a long break, he is right in this.

SELECTIONS: MY MASTERCRAFTSMAN (8), CHATTANOOGACHOOCHOO (1), REDS JET STAR (7), LONG TERM FELLA (3)
SUGGESTED BET:  MY MASTERCRAFTSMAN (8)

RACE FOUR

CHERISH THE MOMENT (3)
had ben struggling to display her best this campaign and after a freshen and then a luckless run found her race here on Friday and from the running line finished best to score. With the confidence of that win and the improved gate she can look to go back-to-back.

SUPALINER (1) was a claiming winner 4 starts back when flashing home from back in the pack to score over the mile trip. Taking on claiming company in 3 runs since, his effort 2 back when hitting the line strongly was a sound effort. With the cosy trip here he can be ready to issue a challenge.

POMPIDOU (7) has the wide gate to overcome and will strip fitter from his latest run when resuming from a break and worked hard from the 2nd line. He can look for an easier trip here and find the podium.

A GOOD CHANCE (6) worked hard in the run last start when cutting the breeze and fighting to the line when 3rd to ZARAS DELIGHT. He can look to roll forward here and applying the heat will be fighting.

SELECTIONS: CHERISH THE MOMENT (3), SUPALINER (1), POMPIDOU (7), A GOOD CHANCE (6)
SUGGESTED BET: CHERISH THE MOMENT (3) to win

RACE FIVE

Interesting race to line up here with a rare stand start for the open pacers as they get some practice from the tapes for the upcoming Flashing Red Discretionary.
GEORGIA GRACE (1) makes her debut from the tapes and did step cleanly from a front line tape in 2 trials. An all the way winner 3 starts back, she steps out over the marathon trip for the first time but can look to dictate here.

MACH ALERT (8) is strong from the tapes and won 4 of 8 when stepping from the stand. He has returned in  good order this prep with wins in 2 of his 3 outings and last start ripped home in a 54.6 closing 800m from the front. If he steps cleanly he will take some holding out.

WATCH PULP FICTION (9) returns from a spell and has the 20m tape to overcome. A two-time winner from the tapes when in NZ, he is yet to place in 2 Aust attempts. Last prep he put together 4 successive wins and had really found his rhythm. The 2647m trip first up is a big ask.

WESTERN BLAZE (5) used the passing lane on Sat night and was hitting the line strongly to claim the bronze behind FEEL THE FAITH. 3rd in last year’s Flashing Red, he is good from the tapes and has exotic hopes.

SELECTIONS: GEORGIA GRACE (1), WATCH PULP FICTION (9), MACH ALERT (8), WESTERN BLAZE (5)
SUGGESTED BET:

RACE SIX

PINUP BOY (3)
will strip fitter from his latest run when 2nd up from a break and scoring a classy win at his first time over the 2138m trip when pressing on to find the pegs. 3m from the winner when resuming, he can look to fire out of the machine and once in front look to take control.

PHOTOZEN (2) worked off the inside in the early stages here over the mile 3 starts back and then working home wide out was too good. Forced to do plenty of work last start he was strong to the line. He will find good position here and be ready to produce late.

COREY WILLIAM (10) has been given a freshen since his last outing when working hard in the run in the Marburg Goldstrike Final after making a mess of the stand start. Finding his form with wins at 5 of his previous 6 he can feature.

SOMWHEREOVARAINBOW (6) started from gate 5 last start and was working 3-wide and proved too strong to land a comfortable 12m victory. This is a step up but he is a smart type that has claims.

SELECTIONS: PINUP BOY (3), PHOTOZEN (2), COREY WILLIAM (10), SOMWHEREOVARAINBOW (6)
SUGGESTED BET: PINUP BOY (3) to win

RACE SEVEN

MR MEDDLE (2) was luckless last start when looking for space and may have been closer than the 7m margin behind GET IN THE GROOVE. Looking to take them all the way 2 starts back over the 2138m trip he was grabbed late by JOSSIE JAMES. He can look to dictate here.

BUCKHORN EXCHANGE (1) has been racing well without greatest of luck along the way and starting from wide and 2nd line gates. He attacked the line strongly last start after going back from gate 6 and was only beaten a half-neck 4 starts back. With the perfect trip he can take the last shot.

IOWNATURBO (8) has been on great touch since returning from  a break with 3 wins and a pair of placings in 5 starts. She swooped hard last week to arrive for the win and with the cold trip will be flying home again.

JOSSIE JAMES (11) was buried from inside the 2nd line 2 starts back and somehow found a way to sprint hard to score. Sprinting hard to get within a half-neck last start she will be swooping.

SELECTIONS: MR MEDDLE (2), BUCKHORN EXCHANGE (1), IOWNATURBO (8), JOSSIE JAMES (11)
SUGGESTED BET: Flexi trifecta 1-2-8-11

RACE EIGHT

ARGYLE BEACH (12)
put up a strong effort in the Marburg Goldstrike Final 3 starts back when 4th behind MAJORDOIT. Last start she was an impressive winner from gate 12 when working home over the top of them for a nice win. There looks to be good early pressure and she can arrive over the top.

KEY LARGO (4) will be tightened from his latest start when looking to take them all the way from this same gate over the mile. Setting a strong closing 800m tempo, his condition faded when overrun by the handy INVINCIBLE LOXTON. He can get to the pegs and will be gripping on.

ONLY ONE PROMISE (10) was a strong winner from the breeze here 2 starts back when pressing forward from gate 6 and proving top strong. Too far back in the run last start he can enjoy a good trail into this and has some hope.

NONE BETTOR (5) worked hard cutting the breeze here on Friday and found the 2138m just out of reach once again when 2.5m behind SKYFELLA CAM. He can apply the acid here and will be fighting hard to the wire.

SELECTIONS: ARGYLE BEACH (12), KEY LARGO (4), ONLY ONE PROMISE (10), NONE BETTOR (5)
SUGGESTED BET: ARGYLE BEACH (12) to win
