Dannielle McMullen has been crowned the champion.

The 2018 BOTRA Queensland Young Drivers Championship reached its crescendo at Albion Park last night (Saturday) and McMullen held on for a thrilling victory.

The six race series commenced last Thursday at Albion Park with two events and McMullen struck early with victory behind the Chantal Turpin trained Argyle Beach before heading to Redcliffe the following night for another two races.

McMullen scored another victory when successful behind the Grant Dixon trained Ark Patrol.

So, heading into the final night, McMullen held a comfortable lead and looked set to score well again with two solid drives.

But the night belonged to Leonard Cain who snared both heats with Get In The Groove and Grinvil both producing stylish victories.

McMullen finished third (Sams A Champ) and fourth (Oasis Dream) with her two drives.

In the end, despite the heroics of Cain, McMullen lasted by three points from the fast finishing Cain.

“It was exciting and it was a great way to finish the series, all races were quite competitive and it was great to be part of the series,” McMullen said.

“I was confident heading into the meeting and thought my drives would perform well, I was probably most worried about Narissa (sister) but it was Leonard that had the best luck.” McMullen added.

Other heat winners during the series included Narissa McMullen (Grinvil) and Brittany Graham (Hard To Hear).

The full points table for the series is;

Dannielle McMullen 59 points

Leonard Cain 56

Narissa McMullen 52

Hayden Barnes 40.5

Matt Elkins 40

Brittany Graham 40

Taleah McMullen 31.5
