Trainer David Vandyke believes talented mare Joy Too All is a future stakes performer and is confident the rising six-year-old will fulfill her potential before eventually heading to the breeding barn.

Joy Too All, a Jim Byrne mount, will bid for her sixth win in nine starts when she steps out in distance to 1350 metres in the Class 5 Handicap at Doomben on Wednesday.

Vandyke has no plans to retire the lightly raced daughter of All Too Hard to stud next season as he hopes to target future stakes races to boost her brood mare value.

“She’s a nice mare and is very consistent,” Vandyke said.

“She’s got the capability of getting some black-type down the track.”

Joy Too All is coming off a last start fourth to Uncommon James in a Benchmark race over 1200 metres at Eagle Farm on June 25.

Uncommon James has since franked the form winning the Darby McCarthy at Doomben last Saturday to take his record to four wins and a second from five starts.

“It was a sit and sprint race which didn’t suit her last time,” Vandyke said.

“The first 600 metres was run in 36.34 seconds and the last 600 was in 34.16 seconds.

“But, she worked to the line strongly and stepping out to 1350 metres will suit her better.”

Joy Too All was a $170,000 buy at the 2018 Magic Millions sales at the Gold Coast and has a long way to go to recoup her purchase price with prize money earnings of $80,200.

Vandyke will also start debutante Half Moon Bay in the Eureka Stud QTIS Two-Year-Old Maiden Plate and Fast Talking in the Benchmark 85 Handicap, while also looking to claim the Listed Ramornie Handicap at Grafton with Desert Lord.

Desert Lord, a Brad Pengelly mount, will be Vandyke’s first Ramornie starter and is expected to be competitive following his last start second in the Listed Eye Liner Stakes at Ipswich last month.

Fast Talking is chasing a hat-trick of wins following a Doomben victory on June 22 and a last start win on a heavy track at the Sunshine Coast on July 2.

“It looks a nice race for Fast Talking and he’ll appreciate the claim for Kylie Wilson-Taylor,” Vandyke said.

“Half Moon Bay is a nice filly by Pierro but I feel she’ll get better over further ground.”
