He stated that the gelding travelled well and at a point near the 600m he allowed the gelding to stride forward to improve its position, however from the 400m, when placed under pressure, proved disappointing. He added that in his opinion the gelding may not have appreciated today's firm surface under the heavy impost of 59 1/2. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. |

Then elected to push forward in an attempt to obtain lead outright. Trainer confirmed instructions. Stewards after revieing gelding's racing pattern advised rider that he had erred in persisting in his attempt to obtain the lead outright which resulted in a very fast tempo and contributed to the gelding compounding over the final 400m. |
