Slow to begin. Passing 800m ran in abruptly and checked to avoid heels. Questioned re: performance - rider stater after being slow to begin he elected to ride forward in attempt to settle just forward of midfield. After having to be restrained from heels near 800m afterwhich mare commenced to settle and travelled well in the middle stages. However, peaked on its run over final 200m and was dissapointing in the run to the line. Post race vet revealed no abnormalities. Trainer undertook to report back to stewards any abnormalities. |

Laid in near the 700m despite the efforts of its rider and tightened runners to its inside and then commenced to yield ground quickly and finished a distant last. A post-race veterinary examination found the horse to have an abrasion to the inside of the near foreleg. Trainer K. Hickmott indicated that he would experiment with the addition of blinkers to the horse's gear. Stewards advised Mr Hickmott that the horse would be required to trial satisfactorily prior to its next start. |

Badger stated that after being slow to muster speed in the early stages in the heavy conditions, her mount failed to maintain a position on the back of the field and it was not until after shifting the horse wider after passing the 600m that it commenced to respond to her riding, and in the straight finished the race off reasonably well. She added that in her opinion the horse would appreciate races over a longer distance than that of today' event. Stewards noted her explanation.
