Miss Sonador  When questioned regarding the poor performance, jockey P. Hammersley stated that the filly never travelled comfortably throughout the race and failed to run on when placed under pressure and, in his opinion, was most disappointing. Trainer S. Little Miss Molly  When questioned into his riding of the mare over the final stages of the race rider P. Romeo stated that his instructions were to lead however it was unable to muster enough speed to do so and as a result raced very wide and was a spent force rounding the home turn and for this reason did not place the horse under any pressure over the concluding stages. His explanation was noted.

Special Rose  When asked to explain the poor performance rider reported the mare resented the kick back when racing back in the field. Trainer B. Smith was at loss to explain the poor performance and advised he would report anything that may come to light in the oncoming days. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
Trainer B. Smith advised stewards in coming days that the mare pulled up fine after the disappointing performance.

Tequila Slammer (NZ)  Questioned re the tactics adopted. Rider stated that his instructions were to improve into the race from the 1200m as this is how the horse performs best. He added that the gelding is one-paced and after he commenced to improve into the race, BROQUALO shifted wider and commenced to improve, resulting in him being placed 4 wide, and when the tempo of the race improved leaving the 800m, he was unable to push forward to the lead and was caught 3 wide. Trainer confirmed the instructions and was satisfied with the tactics adopted on the horse as it performed best when ridden in this fashion.

Change of Luck  Steadied to avoid heels near the 800m. Momentarily steadied approaching the home turn. When questioned, rider said after beginning well he obtained the lead, however at the 800m he allowed another runner to cross him. He said from that point the horse proved one-paced and failed to sprint as he expected and ran on only fairly in the straight. He added that bearing in mind the manner in which the horse finished the race off, in his opinion it may have been a better option maintaining the leading position rather than allowing his mount to be crossed. Cheekyboi  Caught wide in the early stages before being allowed to stride forward to take up a position outside the leader near the 1200m.

Excellent Star  After passing the 1200m shifted wider on the track to improve its position and raced three wide without cover for the remainder of the event.
