When questioned regarding the disappointing performance, jockey advised that the gelding at no stage during the event travelled comfortably and when placed under pressure failed to respond to his riding and proved disappointing. A post race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have a cough, which was considered significant by the veterinary surgeon. Trainer advised that in light of today’s performance the gelding will now be spelled.

After standing awkwardly in its stall, then bounded as the gates were released. When asked to comment on the disappointing performance, jockey J. Lloyd advised that the horse was slow to begin and he was obliged to settle at the rear of the field, which was contrary to the horse’s normal racing pattern. He added from that point the gelding dropped the bit and never travelled comfortably throughout. A post race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormality.

Connections advised that as the horse has not been finishing its races off well when ridden forward, from the wide barrier today it will be the intention to have the horse ridden back in the field. The horse was ridden accordingly. M. Cahill indicated that after travelling well in the early and middle stages the horse failed to respond to his riding from the 500m and proved very disappointing. Trainer M. Leitch indicated that she would now discuss with the owners the horse’s immediate racing future.
