Trainer questioned re improved performance - explained at previous start drew wide and in an attempt to obtain cover had to go further back than they would have liked and in a slowly run race made it very hard to make up ground over concluding stages. Of the view run was better than it looked and today being in 900m race felt speed would be on and drew a better barrier, which aided being in a better position. Added gelding handles heavy track conditions and gave it a reasonable change of winning today. Stewards noted explanation.
