Jockey C McIver reported that his mount was inclined to lay in throughout and approaching the 200m when he was attempting to use the whip in a backhand motion on the nearside, CHARGRILL again laid in and jockey McIver used the whip down the shoulder on the offside in an unorthodox manner to correct the gelding. Whilst stewards’ had no concern with this particular incident after viewing the available films, jockey McIver was reminded of his obligations regarding the manner in which he uses the whip.
