Wilson stated that after being slow to begin, the mare commenced to over-race in the early stages, however, in his opinion was disappointing.. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormalities and a swab sample was taken.

Slowly away. Jockey S Wilson advised that in his opinion the addition of blinkers to the mares racing gear had played a major part in the marked form improvement as opposed to its previous run at Innisfail. Trainer Mr A Payne agreed with Jockey Wilson and further stated that a number of factors which had significantly delayed the start of last weeks race at Innisfail had unsettled the mare. He was also of the opinion that the increased distance of todays race had suited the mare.

Purrfect Tycoon

Slow to begin. Hampered near the 600m and again near the 300m when awkwardly placed on heels. Saddle shifted to the near side leaving the 300m resulting in rider J. Dickinson becoming awkward in the saddle and removing his near side foot from the stirrup iron and after passing the winning post became unbalanced and was dislodged. J. Dickinson was treated by the ambulance officers on course before being transported to Innisfail Hospital for further observation.
