Haley stated that after beginning well his mount was able to take up a leading position, but when asked for an effort in the vicinity of the 600m the gelding failed to respond to his riding and went to the line in a disappointing manner. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame in the near foreleg. Trainer J. Manzelmann was advised that a veterinary clearance would be required prior to a future race start.
