Orman stated that his instructions were to be in a forward position, but after beginning awkwardly the runners to his outside had improved and crossed him and instead of improving forward and being caught wide, he elected to remain in a rearward position with cover. He added he was able to improve into the race from the 600m where the gelding finished the race off only fairly. He indicated that the gelding would be better suited to racing over distances further than that of today's event. |

Laid in near the 700m despite the efforts of its rider and tightened runners to its inside and then commenced to yield ground quickly and finished a distant last. A post-race veterinary examination found the horse to have an abrasion to the inside of the near foreleg. Trainer K. Hickmott indicated that he would experiment with the addition of blinkers to the horse's gear. Stewards advised Mr Hickmott that the horse would be required to trial satisfactorily prior to its next start. |
