Quiero Rider said instructions were to lead if possible. He said the gelding showed sufficient early speed, however ARGO’S REVENGE also improved to his inside, so he had to make more use of the gelding than he would have liked. He said at its previous start the horse was inclined to overrace and hang out and for this reason he was intent on pursuing the lead and getting the horse across to the rails. He added that the horse then travelled nicely in front and weakened over the concluding stages. He said he would have preferred not having to make as much use of the horsein the early stages. Well Sighted Had to be steadied away from heels passing the 1000m when cramped for room. Bumped by FLAVIAN passing the 150m when that runner shifted out. Ipswich 13/01/2018
Golden Shoes Rider explanation re riding in home straight - explained from inside barrier did not muster any early speed and after travelling short distance was a clear last. Added soon after straightening commenced to make ground but became awkwardly placed at heels of PUFFS GIRL. Further added then attempted to shift to inside of that runner but again became awkwardly placed at the heels of GRACEVILLE and as a result was unable to fully test the gelding in home straight. Vimzig Approaching the home turn was checked after improving onto the heels of a weakening runner. Murwillumbah 07/01/2018
Rejuvenate Slow to begin. Jockey J. Morris, rider of MASSIVE ATTACK, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding, in that leaving the 1000m he did direct his mount inwards when not sufficiently clear of SILVER SCREEN, forcing that horse to be taken in on to REJUVENATE, causing REJUVENATE to make contact with the running rail and its rider having to check severely at this stage. Jockey Morris was suspended from riding in races for a period of 12 days, to commence at midnight, 28 January and to expire at midnight, 9 February.
