The Waco Kid  B. Pengelly was asked to comment on the horse's performance. He indicated that after travelling well, the horse did not let down as he had anticipated. He added that the horse's breathing was somewhat unusual during the event and he was disappointed with the way in which the horse found the line. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Trainer B. Lockwood advised that in light of jockey Pengelly's comments he would add a tongue tie to the horse's gear and he was of the view that a step up in distance would be beneficial for the horse.  Sunshine Coast  11/05/2016

Provocative (NZ)  Began awkwardly. Steadied from heels shortly thereafter. Jockey V. Colgan was fined $200 for using his whip more than 5 times prior to the 100m. Inclined to lay in for the majority of the home straight.

Stella's Chance  M. McGuren stated that his mount travelled strongly in the early and middle stages and he was confident of its chances rounding the home turn. M. McGuren added that when asked to sprint at the entrance to the straight his mount did not respond as strongly as anticipated and weakened over the final 100m. M. Stewart reported that the mare bucked shortly after the start and whilst he had ridden the mare to go forward and position outside the leader she was under pressure at the 600m and commenced to weaken soon after. Confronting  Slow to begin and as a result settled further back in the field than anticipated. Both rider and trainer were at a loss to explain the disappointing performance. Trainer subsequently reported the horse was sore over the back, neck and wither and would receive chiropractic treatment in the coming days as it may have jarred up thereby contributing to the disappointing performance. Lauterbrunnen  Trainer R. Heathcote reported that jockey M. Cahill advised him that the horse was inclined to hang out throughout and was reluctant to stretch out in the straight. He indicated he would have veterinary surgeon examine the horse on Monday and undertook to report any findings to stewards. Noogoora Burr  When questioned regarding the performance of the gelding apprentice J. Hodge stated that his mount had a comfortable run in the early and middle stages however failed to sprint rounding the home turn and was disappointing in its run to the line. When questioned, trainer Ms S. Lawlor stated that in her opinion the gelding was very disappointing however did note it has a tendency to mix its form. Ms Lawlor advised in the days subsequent that the gelding had pulled up well and she would continue its preparation.  Lismore  22/04/2016
