Previous start it was second up over 1400m and pulled throughout early and middle stages which, along with 61kg impost, failed to sprint strongly in straight. Mr Lawson added gelding has never performed well under heavy weights. Gelding was third up, had minimum weight of 54kg and enjoyed comfortable run behind leaders throughout early and middle stages allowing it to finish the race off

When questioned as to the performance, Jockey M McGuren stated that based on the filly’s previous form he anticipated today’s distance of 900m being too short. However, after beginning well the filly was able to obtain a position on the speed but was disappointing in its failure to finish the race off over the final 400m. Jockey McGuren was of the opinion that the filly would derive a fitness benefit from today’s race. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the filly to have a slow recovery rate.

On returning to scale R. Goltz advised that after beginning well his mount raced keenly in the early stages until crossed by another runner. Jockey Goltz added that from this point the gelding never travelled strongly on the bit at any stage and in his opinion was disappointing.
