Rode filly out of barrier to obtain prominent position but leaving 1100m commenced to hang in and took hold as concerned for riders' safety drawn inside resulting in it settling further back than intended. Continued to hang in throughout placing rider at a disadvantage in home straight. Vetted - no abs. Must trial prior to next start.

Blundered badly at the start. When questioned regarding her riding of the mare, apprentice T. Brooker explained she had been given specific instructions to lead despite the wide draw. She said after the horse blundered she was then crowded by BUNNY BAD GIRL, however after regaining her balance she was of the view that BUNNY BAD GIRL was pressing forward and she was hopeful that the horse would cross to the lead which would allow SHEZALADy to race outside BUNNY BAD GIRL. Slow to begin. When asked to comment on the performance, apprentice J. Orman indicated he would have liked to have improved into the race near the 600m as the horse won its last start by improving outside the field from that point of the race. He indicated at that point he was held up behind other runners and was unable to pressure the horse until entering the straight.

Spinks, rider of WINDER SANDS, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding in that after being positioned 3 wide near the 700m he did place undue pressure to the runner to the inside, SOL WITNESS, resulting in both horses being buffeted for some distance approaching the 500m and ultimately causing SOL WITNESS to be taken in behind the leader PERFORATION and causing MISS KINDILAN, which had improved to the inside at that stage, to be checked when tightened for room. Connections advised that the horse may be sent for a spell. A post-race veterinary examination revealed lameness behind, in particular the off hind leg. Trainer L. Birchley was advised that the horse would require a veterinary clearance prior to racing again.
