He indicated that he attempted to secure cover in the early stages, however the horse overraced and he indicated that as he had been instructed to avoid fighting the horse if it had commenced to overrace, he allowed the horse to stride from approaching the 800m. He felt that the horse was still travelling well approaching the home turn however did not respond when pressured in the home straight. J. Lloyd indicated that he was disappointed in the horse’s performance. He stated that he was forced to ride the horse along in the early stages as the horse did not show its customary early speed. He further indicated that he did not believe that the mare was entirely comfortable in the rain-affected conditions. He added that he shifted out rounding the home turn to avoid the heels of a weakening runner and despite being afforded clear running in the home straight the mare did not respond to his riding. Vetted, no abnormalities. Stable to furnish vet and endoscopic results to stewards.

Rdr std, mount went to start in its prelim very keenly, but throughout the race did not travel at any stage & was most disappointing. Added in his view raced like it had come to the end of its prep. A post race vet exam did not rev any abs. Trainer advised in his opinion the gelding may not have backed up from its run on 13 Feb at Randwick & bearing this in mind in future he would endeavour to space the geld starts & undertook to report back on the immediate racing future.

Bogenhuber reported that she intended to obtain a forward position in the event however in the early stages, when runners to her inside showed similar speed to that of her mount, she was unable to cross these runners, and as a result the horse raced wide without cover throughout the event.
