Rider questioned re decision to allow UPSTART PRIDE to cross her mount near 1000m and obtain the lead - explained when UPSTART PRIDE improved to her outside she was of the view that horse had superior speed to ROCKY KING and to maintain the lead she would have had to make too much use of her horse, which in her view would have been detrimental to its chances. Stewards noted explanation.

When q'd re no t leading event, rdr std after mount began awk, he was reluctant to urge fwd in fear of being caught wide and also encouraging mount to overrace as incline to at most recent start. Said mount trav comf in a mid back pos, in small field and levelled with winner on straightening, however weakened over concluding stages. Felt soft track and heavy weight took its toll over later part of event.

She added that when it won on the heavy track it was the first race on the day, however at subsequent starts when racing on soft going, the track had been worn, and, in her opinion, the gelding did not appreciate those conditions
