When asked to comment on the performance of the horse, jockey Griffin indicated his mount raced quite greenly in the early and middle stages after he had been instructed to allow the horse to settle out of the barriers. He indicated that, in his opinion, the gelding finished the race off strongly despite laying in form the 400m onwards. He added that trainer Mr B. Rdr advised that filly never travelled at any stage throughout the event & when another improved to his outside after 1000m, he did not want to ask his mount to improve at this stage of race as he was of the opinion that it would be detrimental to the chances of the filly as it was having its first start over 1900m. Added was disappointing in the manner in which it failed to respond over the final 500m. A post race vet exam revealed a speedy cut to off hind pastern & poor post race recovery.

Pre race vet exam cleared to race. After leaving the 1200m had to be steadied when briefly tightened for room by another runner. Jockey R. Wiggins explained that following this incident he elected to check his mount to find cover as it was overracing. Continued to overrace and shifted outwards near the 900m. After leaving the 200m shifted in under pressure and made contact with TIME TO TORQUE, resulting in both horses becoming unbalanced. Over-raced and hung both in and out during the event. Trainer S. When questioned regarding the tactics adopted, jockey R. Fradd advised it is a horse which always races on the speed and from the wide draw he rode it hard early in an endeavour to cross, however he became aware that JOMAR’S ELEMENT had improved to his inside, which resulted in him being unable to cross that runner. When asked why he did not elect to restrain the horse and race outside the leader, he said GRACIDA has shown in the past it resents being when restrained. He added that as the horse has had a wind operation, it has always been allowed to stride along in its races. Trainer T.
