Valfierno Jockey B. Stewart could offer no explanation for the disappointing performance, adding that the gelding was under pressure prior to the home turn. Trainer S. Kendrick advised he was of the opinion that the horse did not appreciate the quick back in a 7 days period and would now send the horse for a spell. Our Jamaica When questioned regarding the tactics adopted, jockey Beau Appo stated that his instructions were to go forward and obtain the lead if possible which is its normal racing pattern. He added that after travelling almost 300m he was unablee to cross ORLEANS, which was racing to its inside. After viewing the film, jockey Appo in hindsight felt it may have been more advantageous for him to take hold of his mount and sit outside ORLEANS without pressuring it, which may give the mare a better chance of finishing the race off. Raven's Wing When questioned regarding the mares improved performance, trainer M. Dunn explained that at its last start, when racing in a forward position, it overraced, and on the recommendation of jockey Fradd he removed the cross-over nose band and winkers and added a tongue tie. He said that he instructed the rider to attempt to settle the mare off the speed with cover, which he believed would allow the mare to finish the race off. Stewards advised Mr Dunn that if it was his intention to change the tactics which had been adopted at recent starts, he was obliged under the rules of racing to notify stew Ipswich 01/11/2017

Like a Ruler Shifted out under pressure inside the 100m. Shifted out under pressure approaching the winning post, resulting in rider accidentally striking REALLY REILLY over the head. Apprentice Z. White was severely reprimanded for failing to stop riding and straighten her mount. Stewards intend to question apprentice Z. White and trainer D. Bougoure relating to the tactics adopted by apprentice White in riding the horse forward today, which is contrast to the manner in which it has been ridden at its previous starts. Pinch River A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame in the off foreleg. Trainer R. Heathcote was advised that the horse will require a veterinary clearance prior to being permitted to race again. Toowoomba 08/04/2017
Perfect Dare Obliged to steady from heels near the 150m. Raced wide without cover. When asked to explain the performance, jockey R. Fradd stated that the gelding may not have appreciated today’s firm track conditions and being first up for some time. He was of the opinion the PERFECT DARE would take a fitness benefit from today’s race.
