Wiggins advised that from the wide alley he had been instructed to settle in the second half of the field. He said he could have been in a more forward position however he would have been caught wide and restrained to the tail of the field. He also had been instructed not to shift too wide on the home turn as connections did not wish the horse to be positioned wide when being asked to improve into the race

He added that the horse was not suited by the tempo of the race and that he would have preferred to have settled further back in the field. He said that as the horse overraced in the early stages, this had an effect on the overall performance.

When questioned, Trainer L Mayfield–Smith explained that in his opinion the gelding didn’t appreciate the firm track of today’s event. He explained that the gelding has performed similarly in a recent run on a firmish track.
