Lope for Joya Improved on to heels near the 500m and was steadied by its rider. Momentarily held up rounding the home turn. When questioned as to the below market expectation performance of his mount, jockey R. Goltz advised that the filly became quite agitated during the preliminary and whilst in the barriers after being loaded. He added that the filly travelled strongly during the event but when placed under pressure failed to respond to his riding and proved disappointing. On a High Improved on to heels and hung out, shifting wider on the track for a short distance rounding the turn near the 1300m. Laid in rounding the home turn and continued to do so in the home straight. Toowoomba 16/09/2018
Shuda Known Better Threw its head in the air on jumping away, resulting in the rider becoming unbalanced and as a consequence the mare settled further back in the field than anticipated. Toowoomba 16/09/2018

Latino Lover Rounding the first turn the gelding lost its footing, becoming very unbalanced and dislodging its rider. A post race veterinary examination of the gelding did not reveal any abnormality. Lismore 20/09/2018

Sunny Victory Held up rounding the home turn and had difficulty securing clear running from the 400m until near the 100m. Sunshine Coast 09/09/2018
Tawfiq Boy Raced keenly in the early stages. Lost ground when checked near the 600m. Angled outwards near the 250m and made contact with KIEVANN. Laid in over the final 100m. Doomben 08/09/2018
Kievann Slow into stride after jumping away awkwardly. Raced wide throughout. Bumped heavily by TAWFIQ BOY near the 250m. J. Lloyd, the rider of TAWFIQ BOY, was reprimanded and advised to take more care when shifting ground in future. Doomben 08/09/2018
Taillevent Raced keenly for short distance approaching 800m. Laid outwards making turn near 600m. Unable to secure clear running for majority of straight and unable to be fully tested. Rider stated approaching home straight PUZZLING WONDER rolled out and he elected to come to inside of that gelding which didn't improve into race as expected and then elected to go back to the inside and was unable to obtain a clear run for majority of straight. Stewards noted explanation but advised may have been prudent to race behind SUPER SUAVE slightly longer to give possible options to both the inside and outside. Doomben 15/09/2018
Powerline Steadied on straightening when endeavouring to improve into a run between runners & was ultimately disappointed for that run; laid in across heels of in the early part of the straight & was steadied; then became held up & was unable to improve until near the 200m when shifted out to improve. Rdr stated on straightening his mount was travelling strongly & he did not feel need to place it under full pressure. Rdr stated on straightening he allowed mount to drift back towards fence & was surprised a runner had improved into the running. Rdr stated he bumped favourite & became unbalanced. Not Surprising Slow to begin. Near 1000m restrained to obtain a position with cover commenced to overrace at the heels of SAILOR GERRI. Steadied when awkwardly placed at the heels of SAILOR GERRI rounding home turn. Gold Coast 22/08/2018

Smartypy Raced wide. Jockey J. Lloyd reported to stewards that upon straightening he had to shift wider to secure clear running and the horse responded to his riding, however whilst laying in weakened on its run over the final 200m and felt the mare in hindsight would be better suited being able to obtain clear running later in the event as it appeared not to be able to sustain a long run. Fortensky When racing 3 wide in the early stages was forced wider after passing the 1000m by another runner and as a result raced 4 wide from that point onwards. Sunshine Coast 22/09/2018
Nothing Box Trainer questioned re improved performance - stated at its previous starts he had expected the gelding to perform well however it had played up en route to the racecourse and arrived in an agitated stated. In addition noted the gelding had returned after the race with a wound to one of its heels. Other than that he could offer no explanation. Doomben 15/09/2018

Really Reilly Began awkwardly. Improved on to heels near the 1350m and had to be restrained and as a result the rider became awkward in the saddle. Doomben 08/09/2018
Balius When questioned regarding the horse’s seemingly improved performance, trainer B. Witt stated that he had expected the gelding to perform well at its last start, however it had disappointed. He added that the gelding was subsequently found to have been suffering from a virus and as such was treated and freshened up. He further stated that BALIUS appreciated rain-affected tracks and he believed these factors may have contributed to today’s improved performance. Doomben 08/09/2018
