A post race veterinary examination revealed the mare to be lame in the off fore sesamoid. Trainer R. Mackay was advised that a veterinary clearance must be provided for the horse prior to its next race start.

When questioned regarding the horse’s seemingly improved performance, trainer G. Schwenke stated that he specifically targeted this race today as in his view the track and surface would best suit the gelding. He added that the gelding also races best when in a forward position, as it did at its most recent start, and more particularly when it is allowed to dictate the tempo. After reviewing the horse’s recent performances, stewards noted Mr Schwenke’s explanation.
