He further added that approaching the home turn DOMINANCE was immediately under pressure and weakened in the home straight. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings.

When questioned re leading, rider stated instructions were to settle in a forward position behind the leaders. He said after beginning well from the inside barrier, and without pressuring his mount, he was left in a leading position, whereby the gelding raced too keenly and was unable to finish the race off. A post-race vet exam revealed the gelding to be slow to recover. Trainer representative advised that the gelding may not have been suited by stepping up in class and added that no issues had appeared since the run.

Jockey J Guthmann-Chester reported that the gelding travelled comfortably through the event however, when placed under pressure from the 500m failed to respond to his riding and ran on only fairly in the home straight. Jockey J Guthmann-Chester also stated that in his opinion the post-race recovery of the gelding recovered suggested to him that it would derive a significant fitness benefit from today’s race. A post-race Veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have a poor post-race recovery.
