When qst re riding rounding home turn & whether there was an opportunity to ride more patiently, rdr std no instructions issued other than to find forward position. Std after being in the lead, approaching the 400m he placed mnt under pressure in an endeavour to gain a margin. Std mnt responded to riding & was able to gain a margin but it peaked on its run approaching the winning post. Added he rode mnt in this manner due to it being run down after obtaining the lead in its last two races, so wanted to gain a more significant margin on the field.

Rdr std he was able to ride mnt in a more conservative manner today as instructed, but when placed under pressure in the straight it failed to respond and when he had some concerns with its action he did not continue to push it out to the end of the event. A post-race vet exam revealed no abs. Tnr subsequently reported that the gelding was found to have an elevated temp on the day following the event and had shifted its off-fore plate. He advised the gelding has now been spelled.
