Red Blanket When questioned apprentice T. Brooker explained that the horse hung in for a major part of the race and soon after straightening she was prevented from improving to the outside and when she applied pressure, the filly continued to hang in and proved difficult to ride. When questioned by Stewards regarding the performance, Apprentice M. Schrapel reported that after beginning awkwardly his mount had to be steadied from heels which resulted in the horse settling further back in the field than he anticipated. Skylar's Star Was reluctant to proceed to the barriers and had its tongue-tie removed. The tongue-tie was unable to be reaffixed and the horse was permitted to start. Connections were advised that a warning would be placed on the horse regarding its pre-race manners and delaying the start. Slow to begin. Kilcoy 14/09/2017

Taught By the Best When questioned with regard to the performance, rider reported that the mare had travelled well throughout, however had resented the kick back in the straight and had failed to run on. A post-race veterinary inspection did not reveal any abnormalities. Birdsville 02/09/2017
