N. Tomizawa was questioned regarding the horse’s disappointing performance. He explained that the gelding travelled comfortably until he shifted three wide and applied pressure approaching the home turn and in his opinion the horse did not feel comfortable in its action in the early part of the home straight so when weakening he elected to ease the horse down. Trainer T. Sears undertook to report to stewards in coming days anything that may explain today’s performance. Vetted, no abnormalities. Must trial satisfactorily before racing again.

Mr Hudson explained that at its most recent start the horse was travelling very well but the saddle slipped approaching the home turn, which placed its rider on that occasion at a distinct disadvantage. He added that WHATEVER MISS has always raced well at Ipswich and he was not surprised that it was able to win convincingly today.
