Appo stated that his instructions were to lead if possible, however the filly failed to show the necessary speed to comply with these instructions and as a result when attempting to improve forward was caught racing wide. He added that the filly was not entirely comfortable on today’s tight track, however was still disappointing in its performance. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.

Zielke advised that he would experiment with some gear changes prior to the horse’s next start. Notwithstanding that advice, stewards informed Mr Zielke that a warning would be placed against the gelding’s racing manners.

Passing the 1100m had a tendency to lay in despite the efforts of its rider tightening MILITARY EXPRESS which in turn was forced in on to MISS SEVERINA which had to be restrained from heels and shifted in tightening SONIC QUILL which had to be restrained away from heels. Raced 3 wide with cover throughout. Trainer D Newham was advised that a warning would be placed on the gelding regarding its poor performance as it was beaten 19 lengths.
