Near the 100m was obliged to steady out around heels to continue to improve. A post race veterinary examination of the gelding did not reveal any abnormality.

When questioned in relation the instruction provided rider stated that he was instructed to rider the gelding slightly more conservatively than its most recent as the Trautman was being stepped up in distance. Rider stated that gelding began well however the gelding failed to show any early speed and for this reason he elected to shift in behind runner rather than get caught wide.

Jockey Allen added that in his opinion the mare may not have backed up from its most recent start on the 3rd of June and that the step up in distance to 2000m may have also had an effect on the performance of RED HOT RUBIX. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have bled from both nostrils.
