Browne stated that his intentions were to settle in a more forward position, however after being hampered at the start and receiving a check at the 900m, he settled further back in the field than anticipated. Aerostar  Rider J. Taylor could offer no explanation for the disappointing performance of the horse. Trainer N. Doyle advised he would have blood tests taken from Aerostar and undertook to trial the horse prior to racing again. Beau Jez  Slow to begin and finished a distant last, taking no competitive part in the event. . A post race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame in the near hind. Nivali  Obliged to alter course when disappointed for a run after leaving the 400m. T. Bell stated that the horse travelled well in the early and middle stages and rounding the home turn he was disappointed for a run to the inside of runners and the horse finished the race off only fairly. Silent Duke  Tightened for room between runners after leaving the 200m and as a result had to be steadied, and was then held up for a short distance. L. Tarrant was questioned regarding his riding of SILENT DUKE in the early stages. He stated that he was instructed to have the horse racing in a midfield position, however when caught wide in the early stages he elected to push forward and lead. Rider was severely reprimanded for steadying the pace after crossing to the lead near the 1300m, resulting in runners being inconvenienced.  Doomben  11/04/2015
