Rider explained that the horse was tardy to begin, which did not concern her as she had been instructed to ride it in a rearward position. She said the horse seemed to travel well throughout the run, however from the 700m when the tempo of the race quickened, her mount was left flat-footed and despite her urgings was unable to sprint with the remainder of the field. She added that as a result, VODNIK was unable to make up ground and finished one-paced in the run to the line and was most disappointing. Trainer said the gelding does not appreciate racing on firm surfaces. Vetted, lame near fore. |

Rider advised that the mare, which was very fractious in the mounting yard, began well and led the event comfortably during the early and middle stages. He further added that when placed under pressure rounding the home turn and in the early stages of the home straight, it failed to respond to his riding and proved somewhat disappointing. |

He added that he advised connections the horse may be better suited to ridden more conservatively in an endeavour to have finish its races off. A post race veterinary examination revealed an abrasion to the off hind pastern and a poor post-race recovery. |
