La Dolce Vita J. Morris reported that after racing outside the lead he became concerned with the horse’s action on straightening and as he was of the view that something may have been amiss with the mare he did not persist in riding it out and eased it down over the concluding stages. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare to be suffering from heat stress and to have a poor post-race recovery. Trainer B. Smith advised that he would have the mare scoped the following morning, the results of which he undertook to forward to stewards. Eagle Farm 11/01/2017

Barraaj It was reported, that the gelding lost its off front plate in running. Gold Coast 28/01/2017
French Song When questioned jockey J. Mallyon explained that the horse had previously been ridden forward in the early stages however overraced badly. He said from today’s awkward draw it was his intention to restrain and endeavour to find cover in a forward position. He added that shortly after the start he became aware there were a number of runners to his inside and as he was reluctant to urge it forward as he was concerned it may overrace, he took the option to endeavour to restrain, however the mare appeared to resent this and threw its head up for some distance. Kid Cruize Laid in under pressure in the home straight. On return to scale, jockey Yoshida advised he could not offer any explanation for the performance of the horse today other than, in his opinion, the horse raced flat. Dalby 04/02/2017

Race 8
Uno Best Knuckled on jumping away. When questioned regarding his riding of the horse, apprentice M. Murphy stated he had been instructed by trainer P. Facoory to lead and that he complied with those instructions, positioning in front near the 900m, and that from the 500m he attempted to place some pressure on the gelding in an endeavour to increase the tempo and hopefully gain a break on the rest of the field. He said he rode it similarly to what he did at the Gold Coast on 31 December when it won on that occasion. When questioned, trainer P.
