When questioned as to the disappointing performance, Jockey R Plumb stated that after travelling comfortably for the majority of the race, the gelding was then reluctant to improve when racing between runners before commencing to weaken rounding the home turn. He also added that the gelding may have been accidentally struck over the head by another rider’s whip. As he was of the view that something may have been amiss with the gelding he did not apply any more pressure to the gelding in the home straight.

Raced wide without cover throughout the event. Rider stated his mount travelled satisfactorily in the early stages, but from the 600m he raced in restricted room between Eye Of America and Deny Allcharges and, after making contact with Deny Allcharges, when he shifted out near the 500m, his mount failed to finish the race off thereafter. A post-race vet exam revealed the mare to be displaying poor post-race recovery.
