When questioned regarding the disappointing performance, Jockey J Morris stated that the gelding was able to lead as expected, however, failed to quicken when placed under pressure and he attributed this to today’s prevailing track conditions. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have suffered a minor laceration to its off hind cannon.

Riderquestioned regarding tactics. He said that two starts ago at the Gold Coast the horse was ridden in a more forward position as instructed. He added that at its last start the horse began awkwardly and lost ground, settling further back over an unsuitable trip. He further added that he was instructed to ride aggressively in the early stages to settle in a forward position. Trainer confirmed that instructions have been previously to settle in a forward position, however last start, due to circumstances, settled further back than anticipated. Stewards noted both explananations.
