Regnant Hung out on the bends. Jockey L. Rolls explained that the horse began well, however commenced to hang out shortly after. He said after being crossed by other runners it appeared to resent racing in behind those horses, dropped the bit and despite his urgings lost ground. He said at its only jump-out the filly was able to lead, however in his opinion it would benefit from today's racing experience, adding that his mount was uncomfortable in the soft track conditions. Secret Code Weakened badly in the home straight and finished last. L. Dittman advised that the horse travelled well until asked for an effort rounding t the home turn and weakened badly. Trainer D. Duryea indicated that the horse may not have been as forward in its preparation as she had thought after returning from a significant spell and would monitor the horse’s progress over the coming days. She added that the horse has had a history of upper respiratory issues. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings. Warning placed on the horse’s performance. Batten Inconvenienced by another runner passing 250m. Raced wide throughout. Rider questioned re disappointing performance - unable to offer any tangible explanation. Vetted - no abnormalities. Trainer expressed disappointment in performance after it performed well in an unofficial trial leading into today’s event and was unable to offer any explanation for the disappointing performance after the horse had pulled up well following the race and indicated that he would continue with its current prep. Mr Bellagio Buffeted at the start and lost ground. Jockey D. Browne was asked to comment on the horse’s overall performance and the tactics adopted as stewards had anticipated the mare being in a more forward position. Jockey Browne indicated that it had been his intention to ride the horse forward out of the barriers, however after being steadied when inconvenienced by another runner at the start he was obliged to position the horse at the tail of the field. Idle Situation Trainer G. Baker advised that it would be the intention to have the gelding ridden more forward. The horse was ridden accordingly. Laid in under pressure for the majority of the home straight. Beaudesert 24/06/2017
Silento Bounded on jumping. When questioned re performance rdr stated that whilst his mount has sound wet track form it did not feel comfortable in the heavy track conditions being inclined to dip and blunder throughout. Major Consul When asked to comment on the performance, L. Tarrant stated that after racing comfortably just behind the lead it travelled well to the home turn, however when asked to respond at the top of the straight was reluctant to stretch out and was disappointing. Salt Flat COT: To be more fwd; led. Rdr std that in accord with instru, & after being a little slow to begin, he rode geld fwd where he was able to assume lead. Added when geld was inclined to race keenly in the m/stages, & as he had also been instru to allow the geld to race comf & not unduly restrain due to it having a breathing issue, whilst he was aware that the pace the geld was setting was fast, he did not make an attempt to steady the geld. Storm Anchor Slow to begin. Commenced to overrace near the 900m, shifted out and bumped LIMESTONE COWBOY, then continued to overrace when racing wide on the track.
