Raced with its head in the air when being restrained in the early stages. When asked to comment on the horse’s performance, J. Byrne indicated that at no stage did the horse travel comfortably, racing with its head in the air in the early stages and near the 850m, when following MOGUL, that horse shifted in and made contact with the running rail. He felt that this caused his mount to shy and lose ground and become very awkward in its action. He indicated that from that point onwards the horse did not respond to his riding and was very disappointing in the run to the line.

When quest re perf. rdr stated he rode mount along with vigour early however was unable to obtain a forward posn so eased back to obtain cover. Rdr stated throughout middle stages the pace slacked & when leaders sprinted app h/turn his mount was unable to sprint with them. Rdr stated mount was doing best work on line & in his opinion would appreciate a step up in distance. P/R vet exam found no ab's.

As trainer B. Currie was not in attendance at the race meeting, stewards will interview both him and apprentice R. Goldsbury in coming days regarding instructions and tactics adopted.
