When questioned regarding the horse’s improved performance, trainer S. Kendrick stated that the gelding was hampered on jumping at its first start and unable to muster speed over the 900m which he believed was too short for the gelding. He added that since then the horse has trialled and worked well leading up to today’s event and as such he stepped the gelding up to a more suitable journey of 1200m. He said he expected a more forward showing today over the further distance and with the wet track, noting that the gelding is bred to handle the wet, and he was not overly surprised by the win.
