Vol Vallee Trainer D. Murphy and jockey M. Cahill were questioned regarding the tactics that jockey Cahill adopted on the horse. Jockey Cahill stated that the mare had been restless in the barriers and was tardy to begin and he had been instructed to ride her back off the pace as she has a tendency to overrace if ridden forward. Direct Action When questioned regarding the horse’s improved performance, trainer S. Kendrick stated that the gelding was hampered on jumping at its first start and unable to muster speed over the 900m which he believed was too short for the gelding. He added that since then the horse has trialled and worked well leading up to today’s event and as such he stepped the gelding up to a more suitable journey of 1200m. He said he expected a more forward showing today over the further distance and with the wet track, noting that the gelding is bred to handle the wet, and he was not overly surprised by the win. Crab Boy Obtained a leading position after beginning well and, as a result, settled further forward than anticipated. On return to scale, jockey K. Yoshida advised that, in his opinion, the gelding would be better ridden with cover in future events, however he was unable to do so on this occasion due to the circumstances of the event. Dazzle Em Sid Shifted in near the 2000m despite the efforts of its rider. Whilst racing wide, Apprentice R. Goldsbury permitted her mount to stride forward to take up a leading position near the 1300m. Toowoomba 17/03/2018

Watched Near the 1100 was obliged to steady to avoid the heels of MUSTARRID which shifted in resulting in WATCHED losing ground at that point. At a subsequent inquiry, it was established that the racing manners of MUSTARRID had contributed to that incident. Trainer B Currie will be advised that a warning will be placed on the racing manners of MUSTARRID. Gold Coast 10/03/2018

Madison Point Checked severely when crowded near the 1100m when taken in by CORSINI which shifted in and away from TUMUT RIVER. Gold Coast 30/12/2017
El Shaday When questioned regarding the gelding’s performance, P. Hammersley stated that in his view the moderate tempo of the race should have suited the horse, however, although it was up in distance, the overall performance today was disappointing. Trainer K. Schweida indicated that it would be his intention to spell the horse. Ipswich 09/11/2017

Brains Slow to begin. Steadied from heels near the 1100m. When questioned regarding the horse’s performance, V. Johnston stated that the gelding could not muster early speed and in her view is looking for distances further than 1200m. Copywriter Slow to begin. Laid in under pressure in the home straight and performed below market expectations. Jockey J. Orman reported his mount did not travel comfortably at any stage of the race and was very disappointing, adding that the horse laid in under pressure in the home straight and raced awkwardly over the final 200m. A post race veterinary examination revealed the filly to be making a respiratory noise indicative of a possible respiratory infections and a poor post-race recovery. Trainer S. Kendrick was advised that the horse must undergo endoscopic examination and he must furnish to Sunshine Coast 22/10/2017

High Degree Had to be steadied away from the heels of OH BOY shortly after the start and then commenced to overrace. Had to be steadied passing the 400m when racing in restricted room to the inside of SNIPPET OF HOPE, which had a tendency to lay in. Ipswich 07/03/2018
