Passing 500m steadied away from the heels of CALISTO, which was taken out slightly by BROWN BROWN. Rider questioned re tactics - indicated instructions were to go forward if possible and obtain cover just off the speed. Added after travelling a short distance caught three wide and unable to obtain cover therefore elected to restrain after passing 1100m towards rear of the field and in doing so filly commenced to overrace and got its head up on a number of occasions for a short distance.

Rdr stated mount only responded for 200m, was under full pressure on h/turn & weakened to line. Tnr stated geld has history of mixing form, however had worked well leading into event & he was confident. Only explantion he could offer was geld was down 500m in journey & lacked sprint for todays dist. Tnr advised would step up in dist next start. P/R vet exam no ab's. Will get chirpractic tnmt & blood results.

He added that in his opinion the horse did not handle the rain-affected conditions. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the filly to have a slow post-race recovery.
