Slightly Shady Shortly after start when being ridden forward to obtain a position closer to the rail the saddle shifted back noticeably causing the mare to attempt to buck and in doing so shifted in tightening runners to its inside and eventually made heavy contact with the running rail for a short distance and lost ground. From that point was unable to be fully tested for the remainder of the event. As Stewards were of the opinion that the mare had attempted to buck because of the saddle shifting back they took no further action. Doomben 19/02/2020

Abb Roy When questioned regarding the horse’s seemingly improved performance, connections advised that at its previous start at Texas the mare did not appreciate the firm track on that occasion and had jarred up. They added that the mare was suited by today’s bigger track and the step up in distance and that a forward showing was expected. They further added that the horse will now be sent for a spell. The veterinary surgeon reported that the mare was showing signs of soreness in its near fore foot post-race. Doomben 18/12/2019

Sidekiss Was ridden forward to assume the lead after being wide in the early stages. Jockey S. Cormack was asked to explain his tactics in leading today, which is in contrast to the horse’s established racing pattern. He indicated that he had been instructed to ride in a midfield position, however when caught wide in the early stages it became apparent he would not be able to obtain a position closer to the fence midfield and therefore elected to allow the horse to stride forward to the lead passing the 900m. Bradbury Stewards questioned jockey S. Cormack regarding his riding of the horse. Of concern to stewards was that after being significantly slow to begin he then did not place pressure on the horse in order to attempt to remain in touch with the main body of the field until entering the home straight. Jockey Cormack explained that after the horse was slow to begin he immediately felt the horse was short in its action and therefore did not place any pressure on it to improve. A post race veterinary examination confirmed that BRADBURY was sore in the off foreleg and had also shifted its off fore pla Sunshine Coast 16/02/2020
