Cahill reported that he was instructed to lead on the horse, and rather than overly restrain the horse he allowed it to stride in the early and middle stages and was able to slow the tempo near the 900m. He added that the horse was under pressure from the 500m and disappointed in its effort. The gelding underwent a post race veterinary examination which revealed no significant findings.

When questioned in relation to the seemingly improved performance, the stable representative for trainer Mr John Moore, Mr George Moore could offer no tangible explanation for the horses most recent start where it performed disappointingly. He went on to say that prior to this start the stable was satisfied with the horse’s form and when prepared to forgive the horse’s previous start the stable had expected a forward showing in today’s event. He added that the gelding had previously performed well at this track and distance, which he felt was also to the benefit of the gelding in today’s event
