Slow into stride. Placed under pressure shortly after the start, commenced to race ungenerously, pulled up and retired from the event. A post-race veterinary inspection revealed that the mare was lame in the hind and sore across the back. Trainer J Pointon was advised that the mare would require a vet certificate prior to racing again.

Stewards questioned apprentice T. Brooker in relation to her riding. She stated that her instructions had been to settle with cover, however when she anticipated the pace would slow, she was of the opinion an opportunity existed to race outside or cross the leader. AMULETO raced to outside of SWINGAHINCH from the 800m until near the 600m and was unable to clear that horse, and at that point in the race was unable to restrain and take cover, which resulted in the horse racing 3 wide without cover throughout.
